Linux, Ansible, and pyVmomi/vSphere automation.

Most automation tooling is built for thousand-server fleets. We help small and mid-sized teams get the same operational leverage without paying for an enterprise-scale tool chain.

What we help with

  • Linux fleet management — package and config baselining across heterogeneous hosts, secure SSH hygiene, observability hookups (Prometheus / Grafana / Loki) sized to your budget.
  • Ansible playbook design and audits — turning fragile one-shot scripts into idempotent, testable playbooks. Reviewing existing repos for drift, secret leaks, and CVE exposure.
  • AWX / AAP migrations — moving teams from raw ansible-playbook to a managed control plane, with RBAC, scheduled runs, and credential isolation.
  • pyVmomi / vSphere automation — VM lifecycle scripts, snapshot management, cluster reporting, and integration with your existing CI / monitoring.
  • Infrastructure-as-code reviews — Terraform / Pulumi / OpenTofu audits, with concrete remediation steps.

Typical engagements

  • Ansible repo audit. One week, fixed fee. We read every playbook and role, run them in a sandbox, and deliver a written report with prioritized fixes.
  • vSphere automation jumpstart. Two weeks. We pair with your team to convert one manual operational task (snapshot rotation, VM provisioning, cluster reporting) into a maintainable pyVmomi script with tests and runbook.
  • AWX standup. One to three weeks depending on scope. Install, harden, integrate with your auth, migrate three existing playbooks, train two team members.

Why us

We ship VMware tooling in production: Stonebridge maintains yavijava, the open-source Java SDK for vSphere automation, and contributes upstream to the broader VMware ecosystem. Your engineer-on-engagement has spent more time inside the vSphere SDK than most VMware account reps.
